My most recent cool customers….. Trixie and Smoke.

Trixie is a German Sheppard Aussie mix. She is a sassy old soul. She walks with that stagger and a sway that only she can pull off. Her ears rival that of any respectable rabbit and her voice is as soulful as a jazz singer. She will let you know when it’s meal time with a tilt of her head and a gentle vocal reminder, and when she sees the bowl heading her way she gets so excited that she spins in circles.
Trixie reminds me of a Southern Belle. With drama and sassy, she could hold her own next to Scarlet any day.
Smoke is a Min Aussie. He is quite the little man. He has the energy that only Aussies have. He can be sound asleep on the couch one minute and the next he could be outside chasing a ball down going 135 mph. I do think he would be willing to chase a ball until your arm fell off. We played ball one afternoon for 30 minutes straight and each time he would come running, toss the ball back to me and stand there with his long tongue hanging out to the side. I could just hear him saying “Come on. Come on. I’m ready. Let’s go. Let’s go.” And oh my goodness he is sweet and so very smart.
Trixie and Smoke are so very special and they are so loved.

My Babies...

1997 - I moved into my very own apartment. I was 20 years old and I thought I knew everything. So a couple friends and I decided to go to buy some new things for the apartment. While traveling through Southside we ran across a sign that said “FREE PUPPIES”. All of us being animal lovers sat in the car in front of the house knowing if we got out of the car someone was going home with a puppy. Guess who did? One day after moving into my very own apartment I got a dog. I guess I needed another challenge. She and I grew up together and became soul mates. She is the love of my life and a bigger Diva than Diana Ross.

My mother has a true phobia of cats therefore I never had one growing up. So of course when I moved out I got a cat. Well that and I decided that Zoey needed someone to play with. Some may remember Maggie Dix. She was known as the “CatLady” in Birmingham . One afternoon I called and we talked for a couple of hours. She was truly a lovely lady. She said “I have the perfect cat for you. Come and see her.” I walked in that house, there had to be 3 dozen cats everywhere. “That’s the one Maggie wanted you to see” her helper said to me. I leaned down and started petting her. She drooled on me. “And that’s the one I want.” She passed away after being with me for 10 years. It broke my heart. She was the best cat in the world and the best cat for me.
Oh my Macy! Well after thinking long and hard I decided to get another dog. Zoey had gotten board playing with Kathren and the Vet said Kathren needed to loose weight. So what do you get to make your cat loose weight? A PUPPY!! Well Macy made us all loose something. Zoey stopped talking to me for at least a week after I brought her home from the Humane Society. She is so darn cute and loveable, but BAD. She was the worst puppy. She hated her crate. She ate the couch. She ate my entire wardrobe. She was so hyper she could out run a Cheetah. She has finally out grown all of that and my goodness we all love her. And she LOVES everyone. She is the most loving dog I have ever seen. She just wants to be in your lap all the time. She steals everyone's heart. She will always be my baby. My spoiled rotten baby!

Tashi had a rough start. A woman walked into a North GA shelter with a dog under one arm and a baby under the other. All 3 were bruised and had been abused. The woman and her baby were going to a safehouse but they didn’t allow pets. She had driven 2 counties away to surrender her dog. The woman was sobbing as she loved her little dog very, very much but knew that she and her baby didn’t have a choice. A lady from a local rescue was there and took the dog immediately. A friend of mine adopted Tashi from this rescue. Then I adopted Tashi from my friend. She is very special. She loves to play, loves to snuggle and loves to be silly. From the moment she came to visit with us, I knew she belonged. She is the Pretty Pretty Princess. (and she knows it)
Gabe is the man of the house. He found me. Walked right up to me in the front yard and said “Hi I would like to live here please.” I tried to find his home then tried to find him a home. No luck! He started having some separation issues. (I think it was his evil plan to stay with me.) He wouldn’t leave my side. After working on his behavior and some doggie Prozac he got past all of that within a couple months. I never had to house train him or leash train him. He LOVES to ride in the car. He is gentel with puppies and babies. He gets along with everyone and everything. He is a true gentleman. He’s my big boy and the best dog in the world. I truely wish eveyones first dog could be like my Gabe.
